Day 1: Patient Forms
Upon entering our office, you will be greeted and welcomed as a member of our family. We will request that you fill out our patient forms that are located online in the New Patient Center. This paperwork provides us with important information about you, your condition and your background. You'll save time, too, if you're able to fill out these forms before getting to the office!
Consultation
Next you will have a consultation with one of the doctors to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and history. Your first visit is designed for the doctor to learn more about you, your condition and your expectations to determine whether chiropractic care can meet your goals and if she can help you get well.
Examination
After your consultation, the doctor will perform a complete chiropractic examination, consisting of neurological, orthopedic, postural and physical exams. Nothing will be done in our office without your consent. The most important part of the exam will be gathering thermographic scans of your neck and back to determine if there is a pattern of nerve interference that may be contributing to your health problems. Computerized infrared thermography is the technology utilized to gather this information and is a very important test in this office. It gives us a peek into how your nervous system in functioing, which is pretty important, considering your nervous system controls all of the other systems of your body.
X-Ray Studies
Digital x-rays help the doctors to understand exactly what is going on with the biomechanics of the bones that protect your brainstem--how they're moving and how they're not moving, and what kind of adjustment will be necessary to help you get well. Digital x-rays also show how long problems have been there, and can give us an idea of how long it'll take to help you get well.
Day 2: Report of Findings
After the doctor has analyzed and correlated all of the information gathered from your history, exam, scans and x-rays, she will give you a report of findings to answer the three most popular questions:
- Can you help me?
- What do you recommend that I do to get better?
- How much is it going to cost?
Each doctor will explain if and how she'll be able to help you, how long it will take and how much it will cost. If you have a condition that requires care with other providers, the doctors will tell you. If they ascertains that they can help you, they will recommend a care plan tailored specifically to your case.
Upper Cervical Specific Chiropractic Care
Patients will generally be provided with their first adjustment at the conclusion of the second visit, after the report of findings. After the adjustment, you will get to rest for 25-30 minutes in our comfortable recuperative suite. This resting is crucial for your body to integrate the adjustment and allow healing to begin. On subsequent visits, the doctor will check you by scanning your neck to determine if your pattern of nerve interference is present. If so, you will receive an adjustment, and then rest. If your pattern of interference is not present, you will not need an adjustment and you'll be on your way for the day! When you don't need to be adjusted, it means that your nervous system is working properly, and that you are in a state of healing. As such, our goal it to not have to adjust you! But we'll only know for sure each visit by checking you.
