Getting your body back on track!

Many people go to a chiropractor because they are in pain. We definitely want you to feel better and actually, we want to restore your health, not just reduce your symptoms! In this first phase of care, patients will notice a reduction in the severity or intensity of symptoms. This relief occurs by restoring function to your nervous system, which we are checking with the thermographic scan on each and every visit.

Throughout your care plan, it is important to remember that it is the scan that determines whether or not you need an adjustment, as adjusting you at the wrong time could be bad for your health. So, sometimes you'll feel great, and need an adjustment, and other times you might not feel so great, and not need an adjustment. Luckily, your nervous system knows exactly what it needs to do to get you well, so we just need to make sure that we remove the interference when it's there!

Most people are under the assumption that if they don’t feel any pain that there is nothing wrong with them – that they are healthy. Unfortunately, pain is a very poor indicator of health. In fact, pain and other symptoms frequently only appear after a disease or other condition has become advanced.

For example, consider a cavity in your tooth. Does it hurt when it first develops or only after it has become serious? How about heart disease? Regardless of whether you are talking about cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stress or problems with the spine, pain is usually the last thing to appear. When you begin chiropractic care, pain is also the first symptom to disappear, even though much of the underlying condition remains. That is why the thermography is so valuable--it tells us objectively if we are changing the function of your nervous system, and how you're responding to care.

It's really important that we get you to a state of healing, especially in this first phase of care. For this reason, we'll be checking you frequently, usually 3 times per week, in this first phase. Once your body starts holding the adjustments, and you're in that healing state for longer periods of time, we'll be able to graduate you to getting checked 2 times per week, then on to 1 time per week after that.
